Recently I have been apartment shopping. This will be the first time I live entirely by myself, so I wanted to search for what I really wanted. I have seen over 25 complexes in the last 3 weeks. This last Friday I came across a place that felt like home. I loved the look, layout, price and location; it was perfect.

This experience reminded me of what our faith is supposed to be like. It’s supposed to be like coming home. Sometimes we do all this searching and looking and everything feels like it’s just missing one thing or another. Nothing feels like home.

Until we walk into the arms of the father.

One story comes to mind, the story of two sons and a father. One son runs away, the other stays, both want their fathers inheritance. The father recklessly gives to both sons both his love and possessions. Jewish men didn’t run, yet when his son was far off the father runs to him and welcomes him with a party.

Jesus welcomes us home, no matter how far away we have been or how long we have been gone! My prayer is that you find home, the place of great celebration and comfort in the arms of the Lord of Lords and King of Kings!

Blessings,
