Text: John 13

Preacher: Pastor Tom Zucconi

The name Maundy Thursday comes from the Latin word “mandatum,” which means “commandment.” It is taken from Jesus’ words to his disciples in John 13:34: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” Tonight, we recall one of those ways Jesus loved his disciples— sacrificial service in the washing of their feet. It’s a different approach to what is historically an evening of remembrance of the last supper, but it’s an important approach. It lays the foundation for his gift in Holy Communion, his Table of Grace and Belonging. Welcome to all who worship this evening.
