Giving. It’s the theme for this week’s Red Letter Challenge.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? What’s the most excited you’ve ever been to give a gift? Who was the recipient?

I think giving and receiving are intertwined in emotion, values, and results. There is surprise, expectation, love, generosity, and grace.  All sorts of good things. That’s why giving and receiving produce such joy.

Scripture tells us that God so loved the world, He GAVE His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in (receives) Jesus will not die, but have everlasting life. What a gift!

I think our Heavenly Father wants to surprise us, to exceed our expectations by showing us love when we think we aren’t worthy.  He wants us to know unbridled generosity, grace, and joy in our relationship with Him.  What a giver!

As you consider the best gift you ever received or the most excited you’ve ever been to give a gift, consider what you have in Christ Jesus, your Savior, the best gift ever given and the best gift ever received. What joy!

Generously,

Pastor Tom
